Mines and prospects in new Yorke Peninsula GIS

Locations of historical mines and exploration prospects are now included on an updated Yorke Peninsula (Moonta Subdomain) online GIS.

The new GIS also includes updated geological map layers, and a link to download the data layers in ESRI and Mapinfo formats, so users can manipulate them in their own GIS viewers.

The Moonta Subdomain forms the southern part of the Olympic Copper-Gold province. This major mineral belt contains the huge Olympic Dam Cu-Au-U deposit and the recently discovered Prominent Hill deposit.

A map of the Moonta Subdomain can be downloaded in PDF format from the Gawler Craton project GIS web page. This page also contains links to other Gawler Craton maps and online GIS's, such as the central Olympic Cu-Au Province, the Harris Greenstone Belt, and the northwest Mulgathing Complex.
