The Sorell Basin is sparsely drilled, with only two petroleum exploration wells, Clam-1 and Cape Sorell-1[PDF_452 KB], situated on the margin of the basin. Consequently, stratigraphic data is limited, thus preventing the development of a comprehensive stratigraphic nomenclature scheme for the Sorell Basin.
