High school and college students
Geoscience Australia is able to provide work experience placements to high school and college students where their school/college provides them with indemnity cover. To arrange a work experience placement, you should first talk to your school work experience coordinator.
Before applying for work experience at Geoscience Australia, please consider carefully the area(s) you would like to work in.
Geoscience Australia is able to provide work experience opportunities to university students where:
- it is an essential/mandatory part of their course requirement to undertake a period of work experience with an external organisation; and
- the university will provide them with indemnity cover in case of a work-related accident.
In cases where university students are seeking work experience without the assistance of their university, Geoscience Australia may offer them work experience placement. However, students will be responsible for organising and paying for their own indemnity cover prior to commencing work.
Students applying from interstate
Students will be responsible for arranging their own transport and accommodation in Canberra, should Geoscience Australia be able to provide a work experience placement.
