Our staff take a proactive approach to an environmentally friendly workplace
The Green Team is a group of staff committed to developing an environmental and energy efficient workplace.
The team meets every two months to develop solutions and implement environmentally friendly initiatives aimed at minimising use of resources.

Achievements
- Contributed to organising a trial of waterless urinals (2006)
- Regular involvement in Adopt-a-Road clean-ups (2001–2005)
- Regular information sessions for staff to promote green habits and answer questions (2001–2005)
- Recycling of topographic maps into envelopes and old glossy letterhead transformed into high quality notepads (2005)
- Introduction of electronic payslips (2005)
- Significant input of ideas to the Environmental Management System and the Energy Management Plan which was signed off by Geoscience Australia's CEO (October, 2005)
- Computer monitor audit to gain information on power habits (2004, 2006)
- Battery and mobile recycling since 2004, with over 30kg of batteries so far saved from landfill
- Bulletin board for staff to car pool (2003)
- Reintroduced metal cutlery to onsite cafe (2002)
- Encouraged double sided printing as the standard default (2002)
- Recycling room for reusable stationary (2001)
- Bottle/can recycling stations (2001)
