Outgoing loans

Material that is available for loan to institutions includes gem, mineral, meteorite and fossil specimens, as well as rock thin sections and palaeontological slides.

All outgoing loans must be agreed in advance, and a loan agreement signed by both the borrower and the Curator of the National Mineral & Fossil Collection.

Loan requests should include the specimen(s) requested, the reasons for the loan, what the item(s) will be used for, organisation responsible for the loan, and the expected duration of the loan. Loans will generally not be made for periods greater than 12 months.

Loan requests must be made in writing, and may be sent via email to clientservices@ga.gov.au.
