The Australian Government is seeking to minimise the impact of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) on the health of Australians, the health system and the economy.
Geoscience Australia is following the advice of the Government and implementing the following strategies to reduce the impact of COVID-19:
- COVID-safe practices in the Geoscience Australia building: Geoscience Australia is open to visitors. COVID-safe practices, including contact logging and additional cleaning, have been implemented to ensure the health of staff and visitors is protected. All visitors are to register on arrival using the Check in CBR App. This is in line with ACT Government requirements.
- Education Centre bookings and resources: the Education Centre will re-open to booked school groups in February, subject to changes to government advice. Bookings for on-site and virtual visits are being accepted up to two years ahead, subject to availability. Classroom Resources continue to be available online to support teachers, parents and students who are unable to attend the Centre in person.
- COVID-safe travel and field work: Geoscience Australia staff will comply with relevant state and territory guidelines while travelling and undertaking field work to ensure the health of staff and the public is protected. All contractors and suppliers engaged by Geoscience Australia are required to apply these guidelines.
- Reducing face-to-face meetings: where possible we are conducting our public talks and seminars, and external meetings virtually.
We will revise our response plan as required and will take additional steps if advised by the Australian Government.
All of our services continue to operate and we’re committed to providing these to the public through our online resources. Please contact us if you cannot access services online.
