Australia’s Energy Commodity Resources 2022 released
Australia’s status as a global energy powerhouse has been confirmed through the 2022 Australian Energy Commodity Resource (AECR) assessment.
Australia’s status as a global energy powerhouse has been confirmed through the 2022 Australian Energy Commodity Resource (AECR) assessment.
The annual stocktake of Australia’s non-renewable energy resources, including uranium, coal, oil and gas commodities, shows Australia remained the world’s largest exporter of liquified natural gas and metallurgical coal and second largest exporter of thermal coal in 2020.
It also highlighted emerging opportunities for Australia as the world moves towards net zero, with a 43% increase in total hydrogen projects in Australia at the end of 2021.
“Australia remains a secure and reliable supplier of energy to our trading partners, particularly in this time of global energy volatility, and we will continue to help them achieve their climate ambitions,” Minister for Resources and Northern Australia Madeleine King said.
