Count-down to Geoscience Australia's 2015 Open Day
Published:24 July 2015
The count-down is on to Geoscience Australia's annual Open Day on Sunday 23 August 2015, when we invite the community along to see, learn and explore the exciting and diverse range of work carried out by Australia's national geoscience agency.
Discover how the work being done by Geoscience Australia scientists is helping to build Australia's resource wealth, better prepare communities for natural disasters, enhance Australia's water security, manage Australia's vast marine jurisdiction, provide geospatial information that's fundamental to everyday life, grow the geoscience knowledge of the nation.
Our work contributes to economic, social and environmental benefits for the Australian community by informing decisions about resource use, management of the environment and the safety and wellbeing of all Australians.
Geoscience Australia's 2015 Open Day will offer a diverse program of free hands-on activities, science displays and talks for all ages. This family focused event provides a great opportunity to showcase our work to the public and to broaden the community's understanding of the importance of geoscience in everyday life; and hopefully inspire some of our younger visitors to become our nation's future geoscientists.
The roaming Erth dinosaur will be back by very popular demand.
When: 10am - 3pm, Sunday 23 August 2015
Where: Geoscience Australia, Corner of Hindmarsh Drive and Jerrabomberra Avenue, Symonston ACT
