Entries are now open for Geoscience Australia's 2013 Top GeoShot photographic competition.

Top GeoShot has increased in popularity each year since its inception in 2010, with 191 entries received in 2012 from across Australia. The winning entry in 2012 was an amazing aerial photo of flooded rivers in Central Queensland, taken by Hayley Anderson.

The theme for this year's competition is "Exposed to the Elements"; so start snapping, take a photo that captures the essence of Earth science in Australia and enter your photo in one of two categories: Open or Student (up to Year 12). Entry is open to all members of the Australian public.

Entries for the 2013 competition close on Monday 23 September 2013. The winners will be announced at a special ceremony in Canberra during this year's Earth Science Week celebrations which will take place during October.

Photographs will be judged on their quality, creativity, aesthetics and how well they fit with the competition theme. An Overall Winner, a People's Choice and 11 additional winners will be selected to feature in Geoscience Australia's annual desk calendar.

All entries will be displayed in Geoscience Australia's foyer, with winners receiving a professionally framed enlargement of their image.
