Built Environment and Exposure

Last updated:23 August 2016

The Built Environment and Exposure location information framework is designed to represent both physical structures and essential supporting infrastructure.

Structures are man-made 'standalone' features that are constructed to provide a specific function and may vary greatly in size, such as: residential homes, commercial buildings, government institutions, schools, hospitals, prisons, lighthouses, dams and farms.

Essential infrastructure are man-made features consisting of connected structures that form supply networks, such as: electricity and gas supply, water and waste treatment systems as well as road, rail, marine and air transport networks.

Nationally consistent location information data services and matching webservices are available and are designed for consumption with geographic information system applications.
