Foundation Spatial Data
Last updated:24 August 2020
The Foundation Spatial Data Framework (FSDF) provides a common reference for the assembly and maintenance of Australian and New Zealand foundation level spatial data in order to serve the widest possible variety of users. It is delivering national coverage of the best available, most current, authoritative source of foundation spatial data which is standardised and quality controlled.
Geoscience Australia is the national custodian of a number of the foundation spatial data themes and datasets within the framework and is currently embarking on a project with the ICSM and ANZLIC to modernise the FSDF so that it further aligns with the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM)’s Global Fundamental Geospatial Data Framework (GFGD).
